Captain Reinhardt, a passenger, was killed when a biplane attempted to avoid a monoplane during landing and capsized in Straussberg Germany on April 1. The aviator also avoided a collision with the other craft but disaster followed.

Washington April 1 The administration bill to repeal ship exemptions in the Panama canal moves to the senate and is sent to the Interoceanic Canals Committee without debate. Senator Owen of Oklahoma will be the administration mouthpiece as committee leaders plan likely hearings and swift action.
