Death Hill Fort Officer Zimmerman Dies at Thirty
Lieut D R Zimmerman a popular Fort Russell officer died at age thirty after an appendicitis attack two weeks earlier. Born August 24 1861 at Center Point Iowa he graduated US Military Academy in 1906 and served in the Cavalry before joining Battery TB and later regimental staff. The regiment mourns the loss as the command issues a notice of his death.
