The South Pass News recalled a planned expedition from Sweetwater to the Big Horn region to search for placer and quartz gold. It warned of dangers from hostile Indians and rough terrain and recommended Cheyenne to Ports Laramie to Peterton route as the safest path into eastern Big Horn country.
