Rock Springs Wyoming Sept 11 reports say the Mine Owners association has offered a wage cut affecting only ten per cent of strikers rather than all miners. The miners favor the move and expect settlement within days as three mines in southern Wyoming remain idle. The Rock Springs Gibraltar Coal Company mine near Point of Rocks produces about 600 tons daily and has increased output since the strike began.
In Danville Illinois Speaker Joseph Cannon opened his campaign for reelection. He devoted most of his nearly two hour address to the labor question and opposed an anti injunction law. He cited 1893 Democrats and discussed Gompers criticism while defending labor organizations under Sherman anti trust law limits.
Pipe for the Thermopolis water system is arriving at Kirby in carload lots and freighted to Thermopolis as rapidly as possible. Officials expect the new water system to be ready for use within two months.
Bids for the Sheridan postoffice building were opened by the treasury supervising architect. Two bids emerged: H. Welse of South Omaha at 131400 and Ferguson & Pearson of Sheridan at 146800.
