F W Ott editor notes Guernsey Packing Company setup by Senator Guernsey with a cement block plant, storehouse and engine house. The modern facility includes a 100-animal daily capacity, slaughter platform, lard rendering plant, and expert supervisor John Beckman poised to run the operation as a profitable institution.
Dr W T Buchanan and his daughter Marie return to Cheyenne where he resumes dental practice and she plans a recital before leaving November 1 to join a major concert company touring urban centers. Marie played before a select audience in Denver while en route from Chicago.
M. Cheeseman a 77 year old Greeley pioneer died of pneumonia at Lund's ranch near Laramie Wyoming. Mrs. Cheeseman rushed from Greeley after his illness and reached the ranch minutes before his death. The body will be sent to Greeley for interment.
In Pawnee City Nebraska on September 6 a posse and officers corner C H Shumway in a corn field near Meneca Kansas as the search for the believed killer of Mrs Jacob Martin intensifies. Shumway allegedly fled after stealing a horse and buggy, then rode to Beat Rice and then Fairbury before a train pursuit.
Washington September 6 President Roosevelt has nearly finished his annual message to Congress and plans to finish before returning September 25. The document will outline party policy for 1908 and beyond with focus on corporation and railroad reforms, land and natural resource legislation, and broader sociological issues. It may include tariff positions but excludes an inheritance or income tax push this session.
Senator William J. Stone of Missouri, returning from the Orient on the Hong Kong Maru, passed Cheyenne yesterday with wife and daughter aboard the Overland Limited. He spoke of his travels and noted during a visit to Beoul Corea the riot in which over 800 Koreans were shot by Japanese soldiers. He recalled Japan's iron grip on Corea and the mockery of its emperor.
The Albany county case against Frank J. Keefe for the Tom King murder will remain on the docket after a report from Laramie. Keefe will face trial in the local district court for murder. Previously Keefe was tried for the killing of Patrolman Baxter with a venue change affecting the King case.
Meriden Connecticut resident ti-Max Fleischmann and his wife rode 7127 miles aloft in Stevens balloon number 26 from North Adams Massachusetts. They drifted over parts of Massachusetts Vermont and New Hampshire for nearly four hours with spectators below as the balloon swayed amid varying air currents.
State of Wyoming v Jane H Bruce and Annie Bruce and Bruce widow Jane, charged with murdering James Bruce, had bail set at $10,000 each after their arrest. Defendants fled to Smoot after release. trial awaits next term. Srry: strychnine allegedly placed in pie. State Chemist findings to be analyzed by Wyoming University.
A masked trio raided the Rocky Mountain limited near Murdock Nebraska, robbing passengers and threatening crew with revolvers. The robbers fled ahead of pursuing sheriffs and detectives while authorities circled a wide search from Murdock to Lincoln and Alvo.
The remains of Allan A. Nash will be moved to Laramie on train No 3 this morning. An escort of G North Arroy veterans is requested to accompany the body from the Longhurst undertaking establishment to the depot. Veterans who will organize the escort should report at Longhurst's at 10 o'clock. No services will be held in Cheyenne before departure.
