Five Perish In Fire At Bownes Home In New York

Five people died in a May fire at the dwelling of Watson Bownes in Weeronesren New York. The household included Bownes his wife his mother two children and two servants. A lamp left burning in the hall is believed to have exploded and started the blaze. Bownes awakened and saved his wife but could not reach his mother and children who perished with a servant and her sister.
