In New York on May 3 a $4000 jewel theft linked to Mrs. William Caldwell of Walnut Hills Cincinnati remained unresolved until the arrest of a man identified as James Wilson also known as Guyer. Detectives traced an intercepted telegram to a Brooklyn suspect. Wilson confessed after extradition papers were sought. Chief Crawford of Cincinnati police coordinated the transfer.

Portland May 3 The Chinook salmon king of fresh water fish will be shown in captivity for the first time at the Lewis and Clark Exposition. A H Baldwin of the fisheries bureau has built two enormous tanks for the display hoping to keep the fish alive and satisfied in a large glass prison. Chinooks weigh twenty pounds on average with some reaching thirty to forty pounds and a few over eighty pounds, with lengths up to six feet.
