D W Stevens a Korean council member in Seoul was shot twice at the San Francisco ferry depot as he prepared to depart for Washington after an attack at the Fairmont hotel by four Koreans. A mob pursued shooter N W Chun, who was captured by a deputy. The other injured was I W Chang. If Stevens dies he would be a martyr to the Korean cause and to Marquis Ito's opponents in Tokyo.
The Supreme Court refused to grant Attorney General Young of Minnesota a writ of habeas corpus, upholding a penalty from the district court for contempt of court. It also affirmed Judge Pritchard’s discharge of James H. Wood, a Southern railway ticket agent in Asheville, who was imprisoned for overcharging ticket prices under state law.

Paris reports the arrest of the Countess of Montell a wealthy socialite famed for lavish entertainments on the Riviera and in Paris. Police say she concealed burglar tools in her garments enabling entry to hotel rooms with valuables and money and that her loot over years was enormous in scope.
Jimmy Geary, custodian of the Cheyenne pest house, was arraigned before Police Justice Bruner on breaking quarantine. He pled guilty and was fined $50. Geary cared for Jimmy Weinee, a one armed newsboy who developed smallpox last Saturday. They left the pest house for city excitement. Weinee was not arraigned yet. He may be punished after recovery.
Funeral for G F Canning former Union Pacific brakeman and railroad official will be held at Longhurst Ryan chapel at 2 30 this afternoon. Friends urged to attend and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen members requested to be present. Canning died in El Paso March 17 and is to be interred in Cheyenne.
Fred W. Gooding president of the National Wool Growers Association, formerly of Shoshone Idaho, traveled via Cheyenne en route home from Washington D C where he was ill for three weeks with typhoid fever. He is accompanied by Dr. W F Smith of Washington and met with George S Walker secretary of the association during the stop.
Pinedale Wyoming March 2 Game Warden William Bayer reports elk mountain sheep and deer are wintering well in the mountains and that light snows will cause only very slight pressure. About two thousand elk in the Big Bend country have ample feed with three feet of dew easily penetrated. Near the large herd Bayer saw no herd of twelve mountain sheep.
In the house of representatives Mann of Illinois moves to expunge a disputed speech from the Congressional Record. Sulzer of New York denounces Mann as a petty, mean lawyer and tries to read the speech but is blocked. The session adjourns in memory of Senator Bryan amid further procedural fights. An additional claim for 25000 dollars funds damages from a mob at Delta Colorado involving William Radcliff is noted.
In Menger Colorado March 23 Mayor Robert W Speer defeats Patterson and Adams rivals to gain party control. The Denver city committee led by Davoren is authorized to act for the city, while the rival Hailey faction controls the county. Bryan endorsement and delegate nomination plans are set, with Glenwood Springs chosen for the June 15 convention.
Paris reports the arrest of Henri Rochette on swindling charges. Once a waiter, he founded the Franco-Spanish bank and floated about a dozen mining ventures whose stock attracted eager French investors.
The funeral for Charles W. Stanley was conducted Sunday afternoon at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Dr. G. C. Rafter delivering the service. The church was filled with friends whose support was expressed through abundant floral tributes.

Warren Richardson Sr. whose death in Benattle marked his passing as a Cheyenne pioneer had his remains cremated as he directed. His son Warren Richardson Jr. returned from Seattle Wash to participate in the rites and ensure the will of the deceased was followed.
