Immense Dam Contract Nears Completion in Wyoming
The La Prele Ditch and Reservoir Co. let a contract to Ambrosen Hydraulic of Boston to build the La Prete bulkhead dam in Converse County. The project will reclaim about 26,000 acres with a 135 ft high dam, 285 ft long, using 26,259 barrels of cement and large quantities of lumber, steel, and stone. The reservoir will hold 25,000 acre-feet and cover 465 acres, with 26 miles of main ditch to irrigate 86,000 acres. cost near 275,000 dollars, completion in 6 to 10 months. Population of Douglas expected to double in five years.
