Mrs Tillie Mowrey, about 19, was abducted at Franklin and Van Buren streets by two unknown men who forced her into a carriage and sent her north. Her husband from which she was divorced and other details appear in a note signed with her name.
Billy Dacey and Jack Hopnyer two lightweights staged a rough six round charity bout in Fuse. After banter they boxed fiercely with Dacey landing a solid winger in the third round hurting Hopper who lay unconscious for about ten minutes.
A passenger train on the Southwest Railroad collided near Moyer, Pennsylvania. One engineer died on the scene and another was injured, while several others escaped fatal harm. Rescue crews responded and the wreck disrupted service along the line.
Local note reports cabbage arriving at Habis market after a cold spell. Growers urge buyers to shop early for fresh produce and grades.

Miss Mamie Myers daughter of Dr E W Myers and Arthur Hayes son of George P Hayes escaped death when ice broke on Troost Park lake about 10 30 last night Porter and Miss Maud Myers remained ashore Hayes supported Miss Myers with one arm and kept their heads above water until rescued by Mounted Officer Ballard and a bystander They were taken to W E Wineballs residence and kept overnight Both expected to recover with no serious injuries and officials tried to keep the incident out of press coverage.
The Constitution will print a review of the farming situation in the South based on the agriculture commissioner’s declaration that prospects have not been so good in forty years. Reports from South Carolina Alabama and maps show farm work delayed by about a month with favorable prospects unable to match last year. The delay is expected to cut cotton yields by at least half a million bales and other crops are backward.
Reports from San Juan county and the San Jose range say the country is completely buried in snow. Railroads and toll roads are blocked. All traffic is suspended for weeks. Snow is the heaviest in years, with depths up to twenty feet over wide areas. Silverton Lake City and several mining camps are cut off from telegraphic communication and running low on supplies.
A stage near Reapino California was held up by eight highwaymen. Express Messenger Ward fired his gun to warn off the robbers. The driver Graham was seriously wounded and the robbers fled with a large treasure aboard the stage. It is unknown if any robber was wounded.
Searrie Washington reports a distinct earthquake shock felt tonight with no damage. In Tacoma and Bainbridge Island similar tremors were noted with no damage reported. At Union there were several distinct aftershocks on the Northern Pacific line and Heath’s City noted por and smoked fare.
Gen. Morgan, commissioner of Indian affairs, urges disarming all Sioux in light of Dakota troubles while distinguishing loyal Indians from hostiles. He warns against blanket disarmament and favors a disciplined police presence and guarded garrisons to preserve peace and protect both Indians and whites. A separate note jokes about Jerry Simpson’s socks.
A March 7 general order by Secretary Proctor directs recruiting 2,000 Lodians for skeletonized units. Each troop or company will enlist fifty-five Indians, within the regimental department when possible, with up to ten married men per unit and non commissioned officers supplied as needed. Mexico March 7 two arrests were made in the Lindemann murder mystery in San Remo. A man and a woman are held on charges they lured the physician to lodgings overpowered him robbed and killed him before dumping the body in a ravine. Details remain undisclosed but authorities pursue the case.
