Pretoria June 18 Kitchener telegraphs Generals Botha Dewet and Delary praising burgher surrender and the unfogging energy and tact shown. He notes King Edward and British public approval and predicts an era of complete reconciliation for South Africa.
Washington June 18 The supervising architect invites bids for sites for new western public buildings and for construction funded by recent congress appropriations. Desired sites include Shuquerque New Mexico Colorado Springs and Evanston Wyoming averaging 150 feet square.
Washington report states the Ute reservation bill has been signed by the president and settlers may enter to select prime lands in western Colorado. The action opens opportunity for homesteaders to establish properties on the newly freed lands.
Bandmaster Frederick Innen loses his divorce suit in New York. He must continue alimony payments while his wife seeks separation in a counter suit. Also noting Cincinnati Shoe Co. sale of sales advertising.
Wilkesbarre, June 4. President Mitchell issued a call for a joint convention of hard and soft coal miners. A strike of 300,000 bituminous miners may result to aid striking anthracite workers. The convention will be at Indianapolis on a date set by National Secretary Wilson to discuss a national suspension of mining in five districts. The United Mine Workers united in demanding the convention and made the call obligatory.
London reports Patrick McHugh MP was jailed for three months for contempt of court during his conspiracy trial in Sligo. He called the magistrate a liar and refused to retract the insult, following a prior six month libel sentence.
In Indianapolis on June 18 Andrew Delis of Peoria fatally wounded his bride at her mother's home then killed himself with carbolic acid. The bride may recover while Delis is described as insanely jealous. Also reported, the irrigation bill moved to the White House for presidential signature with Mendell of Wyoming noted for receiving the pen.
A Louisville and Nashville train struck and killed James Carver and Lizzie Johnson as they watched the river drag near Paris Kentucky on June 15. Separate dispatch notes Colorado cities to begin collecting interest on taxes previously held by counties, a state collection now required by a recent ruling.
Oklahoma City reports a pistol duel between W F Mc Michael and E W Johnson over a land claim. Johnson was killed and Mc Michael died later. Mc Michael accuses Editor Brown of shooting him. Brown faces murder charges but is bailed. Further shooting is expected.

Carbondale Illinois June 18 Governor Yates urged to dispatch a company of national guards to Eldora to quell clashes between colored and white residents. Reverend Peter A Green pastor of Eldorado's colored Methodist church faced a mob threatening removal, while colored families and pupils were expelled from local schools amid a bitter feud.
Pocatello June 18 The Fort Hall reservation was opened to settlement yesterday. About ten thousand minors and home seekers joined in the wild rush for lands.

James Gorman and his sister in law Mrs. James C. Gorman were arrested near Cody on murder charges. The body of Thomas Gorman, a wealthy cattle owner, was found buried in a garden after the couple fled with Mrs. Gorman’s three year old daughter. Authorities fear the child may be in the Big Horn river. The suspects await hearing in Basin jail.
