Sneak Thief Steals Cash Box From Southern Pacific Office
A thief entered the Southern Pacific railway offices at 349 Broadway in New York yesterday afternoon. With about 100 in cash and roughly 5000 in checks and notes present, the cashier’s money box was taken from his desk while he was momentarily away. The box usually holds 25 000 to 50 000 in negotiable paper and cash, but this time contained fewer funds. Checks were easily cashed due to lack of a stopping record. No trace of the thief was found.
