Ames Iowa July 2 A moving picture show may be responsible for Professor J Wilkes Jones of Iowa Agricultural College locating a new plant similar to alfalfa which could become a food for cattle The secretary of agriculture has sought such a plant for years and Jones may have secured a valuable tip He was invited to the home of C W Martin in Omaha to view farm scenes abroad for the National Corn exposition In one scene a Russian farmer feeds cattle a grass resembling alfalfa The professor noted differences but suspects the plant may be as good and will investigate further through the American consul abroad

Live Stock Market Report From Denver Cattle Steady Despite Slower Trade
The July second Denver market report shows cattle sales slow with prices generally 25 to 50 cents lower than last week. Demand is fair, eastern markets dull, and stockers and feeders show weak to slightly lower prices. A single load of ewes arrived, selling well at $4, while various buyers from North Park and Brush sold multiple steers and cows with mixed results.
