Washington February 27 The house committee on Indian affairs agreed to report to the house the recommendation of the secretary of the interior for the ratification of an agreement with the Crow Indians. The sale would transfer portions of their Montana reservation to the Northern Pacific railroad.
San Francisco dispatch reports United States Marshal August Ash shot himself in the heart this evening. Authorities cite financial troubles and hard drinking as the likely causes.
From San Francisco a Wilcox Arizona dispatch states the president refused executive clemency for three Indian youths sentenced to be hanged at Fort Grant on March 8. The report notes the clemency action was denied despite appeals.

Omaha dispatch reports Sheriff Dan Farrell of Mills County Iowa captured train and bank robbers Poke Wells alias O Hf Warner and Frank Johnson alias Bill Norris after a gunfight at Randolph Wisconsin. They face charges in a Winston Missouri train robbery and a Riverton Iowa bank robbery totaling about four thousand dollars. Farrell was wounded thrice and Wells four times but none serious. The pair are being taken to Missouri for trial.
Friday night StreetLock, a wealthy farmer from Pottawattamie county Iowa, was robbed by three masked men seeking his hidden money. A shot to the breast killed him after he refused to reveal bank funds drawn that day. Joe Lotts, a colored Omaha resident, is arrested for the shooting with two white accomplices already in custody and Waldron and Campbell jailed. The investigation extends to Waldrons confession and expected arrests of the remaining suspects.
Early morning a party of masked intruders broke into the Independent office in Wahoo and began destroying presses before publishers confronted them. A melee ensued, burglars fled after overpowering guards, and several men including Frank Dorsey Bob Nye Doane Benson and Beach were later bound over. The editor accuses a town board member of instigating the attack while citizens largely back the paper.
A farmer near Scotland reports a fearless weasel leaping from a wall to seize a horse's neck during ploughing. The horse spooked, sent the animal falling and the weasel killed, with the horse recovering enough to finish the fieldwork. Witnesses praised the weasel as a bold creature, sparking local astonishment.
