East bound Indianapolis and St. Louis train derailed after striking a broken rail near Hillsboro. The sleeper car left the tracks as passengers were shaken and bruised. the conductor sustained painful injuries.
Rev. Dr. Burgess of Springfield Mass was chosen bishop of the Quincy diocese on the 44th ballot. His chief competitors were Drs. Knight and Whitehead from Pennsylvania.
