Washington Feb 24 The Army appropriation bill passes the Senate with no provision for army reorganization. The Pacific railroad telegraph clause is kept. House to consider a privileges and elections seat seating. revenue and sundry civil appropriations move forward amid amendments.
Philadelphia February 24 NH Pergston, chief local agent in west Philadelphia, arrested for stealing letters in December, poisoned himself in his cell this morning with poison weld and died a few minutes after. Chambersburg February 24 A mail train south of the station left the track, about 25 passengers on board, fell six feet to its side. Fifteen to eighteen persons severely injured.
A terrific storm yesterday on Prince Edward Island toppled the Catholic church at Cardezin the Presbyterian church at Souria and the railroad sheds at Summerside. No other casualties reported. Snow in railroad cuttings ranges from sixteen to twenty feet.

The Chinese immigration restriction bill was aligned by presiding officers of both houses and will be sent to the president tomorrow. Republican Pacific coast delegation members plan to urge executive approval in meetings with Secretary Evarts at 10 a.m. and with the president thereafter.
Jos E Douglas was shot in the head by E T Edmondson from behind as he spoke with acquaintances in front of the Jacksonville post office. The motive is unknown and the incident is reported by The News' Jacksonville special.
Chicago February 24 Madame LaChapelle completed her second undertaking by walking 300 quarter miles in consecutive ten minute intervals. The final quarter mile was covered fastest in 1 59.
