Millionaire Jones Fends Off Dynamite Intruder in Home

Lawrence M. Jones a Kansas City dry goods magnate and his wife and son Chester barely escaped after a man entered their home armed with a dynamite bomb and revolver demanding 7000. Jones wrestled the intruder to the floor and Chester seized the pistol as the danger subsided. The suspect claiming the name C H Garnett said he planned to kidnap Jones to demand the ransom.

Standard Oil Pays Fifty Thousand Dollar Fine

Henry R. Priest of St Louis and H Clay Pierce chair of Waters-Pierce Oil filed in Missouri Supreme Court an acceptance of terms after an ouster order. The $50,000 fine was paid and the court may require further proof of severance from Standard Oil. Judge said today's action covers the Missouri corporation case as far as it goes.

George Spencer Millett a 15 year old office boy in the Metropolitan Life Building Twenty third Street Madison Avenue stumbled while fleeing a group of stenographers who had planned to crown him on his birthday.
