Five men according to railroad men and two by passengers held up a Burlington express on the Northern Pacific tracks eight miles from Butte at midnight. They blew open the express safe, escaped with about 5000 dollars, after a fight with the train crew during which a mail clerk was wounded. Deputies scour the countryside as posses pursue the robbers who fled on horseback. The Northern Pacific offers a 6000 dollar reward for capture.
