A Kansas City liquor salesman named L Upman fled Meridian Jefferson county after a mob of armed women confronted him. Women armed with clubs brooms and whips forced him from town while the town marshal offered protection at the depot until the train departed. He had been soliciting liquor orders among Meridian residents.

Robert C. Morris suffered two broken ribs after stepping into a deep dark area at the Kwefo ball during the Industrial convention. He was removed by stretcher to his brother E. A. Slack’s home and then to a hospital. Doctor Johnston reported no internal injuries and a quick recovery is expected. Major R. H. Hendershot and his son arrived in Cheyenne for tonight’s G A R entertainment and are staying at the Inter Ocean hotel.
This afternoon at 4 o clock Judge Scott sentenced L G Drake the first of the Union Pacific trainmen to be punished for the crime to four years in the Rawlins penitentiary. His bride of three months attended the courtroom sobbing as the sentence was read.

State Veterinarian G T Seabury returns from a month in the northern state. Al Wendker moved from Hecla to join Colorado and Southern shops. Various local figures including R M Kennedy and Mrs. Robert Smith were noted in recent calls, with travels between Denver, Rock Springs, and Cheyenne.
