Riot Renewed in Shenanoean Poles Arm for Fight

A night riot erupts as Poles equip themselves with revolvers and pressure a strike at Kehley Run colliery. Police and coal and iron guards clash with 3,000 protesters, one officer wounded, several rioters beaten, crowds dispersed but tensions linger. Freight rate war rocks railroads across the Midwest

The Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railroad launched a rate-cutting campaign with a two cent cut on all freight to Missouri river points, followed by a further one and a half cent cut on first class and three cents on second. The Southwestern Association and Chicago Northwestern matched, while the Northwestern also met a ten cent cut to Minneapolis and St Paul for Omaha and Council Bluffs. No halt to the cuts has been reported, leaving questions about when the reductions will end.

Cincinnati February 4 jurors in the United States case against Ben Ki Hopkins former assistant treasurer of the Fidelity Bank returned a guilty verdict.
