Washington February 4 Myra Clark Gaines files suit in equity seeking an injunction to restrain Caleb Corhin from receiving patents and certificates from the Interior Department for about 6800 acres of Louisiana land she claims he fraudulently obtained through trust and title confirmation. Judge Wylie issues a restraining order returnable February fifteenth. Fire in Ruyple mine flares again in Pennsylvania

Iron and Steel Association meeting reports weak industry

The American Iron and Steel Association met in Philadelphia on June 4. The general iron trade is seen as improving since the start of the panics. Of about 500 mills, 71 are operating and 34 foundries, 14 are idle. Iron on hand totals about 8000 tons and unemployment exceeds 12,000 workers.
