The Missouri House backed moving the state capitol to St. Louis citing moral decline and poor rail links in Jefferson City. A $100000 repair bill and a commission to study using the World’s Fair building are proposed with a $1,000,000 bonus from St. Louis discussed.
Washington reports Sir Michael Herbert and Baron Sternberg pressed Minister Bowen for a choice between sending the Venezuela dispute to The Hague or accepting one month of preferential treatment. Bowen doubted The Hague reference and warned of complex past week. Separate dispatches note Castro’s forces clashing near Caracas with no decisive result as insurgents advance.
Washington February 3 The Panama canal treaty was reported favorably to the senate for ratification without amendment Senator Morgan said he would continue his opposition to the treaty and seek to defend it.
Convicted robber Charles Beeler, who four years ago stole 530,000 from Wells Fargo Express, will be released next month. He is believed to still possess about 50,000 of the stolen funds. The express company has a $50,000 judgment and will hire detectives to track him.
Hudg Man Lumber Co. announces a $1,000,000 agreement with Rives Brogan Lumber Co. of Louisiana to acquire 23,000 acres of cypress land across St James Assumption and Lafourche parishes in Louisiana.
The Grand Encampment delegation led by Hon. Willis George Emerson and including T. R. Smith J. C. Rankin J. B. Williams N. C. Dinsmore B. B. Bowen and J. B. Russell arrived in the city this morning. Emerson said the next Industrial convention should be held at Rawlins and hinted at building a railroad for delegates if the Grand Encampment was not selected.
Report from Buffalo states Sam Close, employed by George B. McClellan, was shot four times by a man named Jennings in the Big Herp Basin country. The cause is unknown and Close was alive but in precarious condition when the news reached Buffalo.
Evanston dispatch reports James J. Hardin, general manager, enthusiastic about development. The Jager Oil Company will invest $20,000,000 in capital, expanding to over $100 million, with at least fifty concerns operating in the Uinta field by May 1.
John Collins received eighteen months in state prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder of his wife in Buffalo. On November 16 he fired three shots at her door, wounded her, then shot himself and later stabbed himself thrice while pursued. He survived and was imprisoned.
Washington February 8 the home committee on naval affairs endorsed the report in the Leslar bribery case vindicating Lessler and Quigg of the Holland Boat Canals and recommending further action against Phillip Doblin the self con.

In Big Horn County a masked gang attacked sheepman William Minnick near Black Mountain injuring him seriously and slaughtering over 200 sheep. The incident follows long rising tensions between sheep and cattle interests. locals fear further trouble as both sides arm themselves. Minnesota repor ting officials report Minnick fatally wounded, with further details uncertain.

Norman Morgan, infant son of Mr and Mrs John Whitaker, died Sunday. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence.

Charles Comer, killed in the recent snow slide near Grand Encampment, was formerly a Cheyenne resident and worked as a line man for the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone company. He lived in Cheyenne about two years ago, later married in En campment. Ole Olson’s Swedish dialect play at Turner ball tonight features Ben Hendricks, with a Swedish Ladies' Quartette, drawing theatergoers seeking wholesome entertainment.
