Thos Murray, wife and two children narrowly escaped death in a five room house at Evans and Thirteenth streets as a fire gutted the building. Firemen from Alert, Durant and Pioneer fought flames for about half an hour, origin likely lamp explosion or defective flue. The house owned by Mrs Murray’s mother was old and highly inflammable. furnishings including a piano were insured in part.
