Judge Carpenter rules on maverick ballots in Carbon county
In a Carbon county case Judge C I Carpenter of the Second Judicial District orders counting 14 uncounted maverick ballots despite earlier board action. The decision impacts the sheriff race where Republican Campbell leads Democrat Hylands by one vote on an incomplete count, with many of the 14 ballots cast by Democrats. The canvassing board’s refusal to count them and issuance of election certificates draw criticism in Rawlins and elsewhere.
