Two little girls found a baby buried near the city’s edge and authorities later uncovered a second newborn in a raised dirt mound with a small valise. Doctors say the infant was born alive and died of exposure. the search for the perpetrators continues as the community demands justice.

Miners Trapped as Fremont Mine Fire Reaches Rescue Halt
Drytown California December 2 The rescue effort for eleven trapped miners continues as the fire in the Fremont mine is controlled but rescuers can reach only about 150 feet. Four Americans are among the group with others Italians and Australians. James Drew Joseph Manley Daniel OBrien and L B Wilson identified among the Americans. Wilson is married with eight children. Fire reached the 600 foot level before being halted and several rescuers were overcome by heat but all were brought to the surface in stable condition.
