While en route to a fire at the Anheuser-Busch warehouse Saturday afternoon, the Alert Hose Company lost a pair of large insulated wire cutters from their wagon toolbox. The white rubber handles were distinctive. Finder should return cutters to the Alert Hose house on Capitol Avenue.

Taft Train Wreck Delays Secretary’s Kansas City Visit

Kansas City Mo Aug 27 Passenger train No 5 on the Frisco line carrying Secretary Taft was wrecked near Springhill Kan when a switch flew open. The mail car derailed and dragged 500 feet but no passengers or trainmen were hurt. Taft helped reassure frightened travelers and the delay postponed his boulevard tour and hotel reception with Senator Warren and Missouri Republicans attending.

Burglar Strikes Bon Shoe & Clothing Store Twice

Sunday night burglars entered the Bon Shoe and Clothing Company store and stole $7.60 from a cash register. Policeman Tom Holland found the front door open and noted a possible break in. Monday night the shoe department door was open and thieves may have remained hidden in the building. Three weeks earlier burglars attempted to blow the safe and netted about $100.

The second day of Larame County’s twentieth annual Teachers Institute opened with larger attendance. Judge J A Riner spoke at the opening, Mr Fee sang, and Dwelle led discussions on grammar arithmetic and school management. Forest Fires Rage in Big Horn Mountains

Special to The Leader Basin Wyoming August 27 A serious forest fire roars through the Big Horn mountains near Tongue River head destroying a large area of heavy timber. From forty miles distant the fire is visible and smoke can be smelled as government forest guards struggle to halt it with no success today.
