In Frepencissuna Indiana two suitors Hurthel and Wininger fought over Miss Mary Klinker. Wininger died from stab wounds to the heart. Hurthel fled. In Louisville a minister stole a cow to fund a revival and was arrested for theft.
The Signal Office reports a cooler week ending Aug 20 in the lake region and upper Mississippi valleys with near normal Pacific coast temperatures. Rainfell in excess across corn and tobacco belts, aiding crops in drought areas. Corn belt conditions improved but expected yield below average due to recent rains now shaping states’ outputs.

New York August 22 District assembly 49 K of L met Sunday to elect delegates to the general assembly at Minneapolis. The meeting began at 4 oclock and ended at 7 oclock with counting of the 7(W) votes continuing two hours after midnight a fierce contest raged between the Home club and the anti Home club.
Heavy overnight rain swamped streets in Urry or Mexico inflicting widespread flooding. The deluge forced shops to be pumped out as water inundated areas rarely affected. Residents faced disruption and authorities assessed damage from the season’s heaviest rainfall.

The stranger's identity and origin are unknown and no blame is assigned to trainmen.
Harry T. Cook aged about 21 and his younger brother Charles T. Cook were arrested for a bank forgery scheme. Harry, a discount clerk at the Columbia National Bank, used an assumed name to open an account elsewhere and forged depositor signatures to obtain checks payable to himself. The brothers deposited the checks and later removed them after payment. Their father is the late Profook of this city.
From Hoboken to the woods Eddie Zander 11 Henry 1 and James Sullivan set out to gather hackle berries. They returned with wounds after a shot was fired and a street gang allegedly demanded berries. The Sullivan boy is missing and presumed dead. others hospitalized with buckshot wounds but likely to recover.
