The Wyoming state fair entry books are open. Mail or visit the secretary C. H. Mewhinnle in Douglas to enter by August 15 with entrance fees of 10 percent on first premiums for live stock classes and 5 percent tagging for other exhibits. Premiums awarded on merit, judges chosen to avoid conflicts.
Mrs Caterina Archuleta and Mr Roman Padilla, Converse county, were married in Casper with Justice Warren E Tubbs officiating. A dispute over who pays the judge’s fee led to a comic scene as they prepared to leave, and the judge suggested they pursue divorce proceedings. No divorce papers filed yet. Also notes: Frontier Days crowd bound for Cheyenne, Joe McGill’s hunt for stray team, elk head mount, Converse Republicans to hold county convention in Douglas September 24, sage birds scarce, 50 carloads of Natrona sheep shipped, oil drilling starting on O F Hamilton ranch.
The Wyoming Democratic Party calls on voters to contribute to the Bryan campaign fund. As state committee chair D N Stickney invites support from those backing platform principles including bank depositors’ security and anti immigration lines, pledging to oppose corporate influence and long-held officeholders. Remittances go to J E Osborne in Denver.
The Cheyenne baseball team meets Eaton Colorado at Ferguson street diamond starting 3 PM this afternoon. Eaton arrives with new players and promises a strong game, with admission 25 and 50 cents.
