Obesity shown to harm heart more than smoking study
A large study of over 111,000 people finds obesity raises heart attack risk earlier than normal weight. Lead author Dr. Peter McCullough notes fat tissue may release factors that trigger heart attacks by promoting plaque rupture and clotting. The research suggests excess adiposity is a dangerous heart factor beyond smoking.

Obesity linked to earlier first heart attacks in study
Researchers stratified 111,847 patients hospitalized for heart attack and unstable angina by BMI and found those with the highest weight averaged 59 at first heart attack, about 12 years earlier than the leanest group at 47. Versus leaner groups, obesity raised diabetes risk and shortened time to heart attack.
