Boaters Face New Federal PCOC Rule Start Date
Canadian fall boating rules require all power vessel operators under four meters to hold a Pleasure Craft Operator Card by September 15 2009. About eight million Canadians will be affected once fully implemented. Boaters born after April 1 1983 must have the card. RCMP will check proofs of competency during water patrols and fines up to 200 apply for missing cards. Training costs about 25 for materials and 20 for the exam, with Red Cross offering the On Board program.
