Chetwynd’s Chainsaw Artist Aaro Simonson Back with Community Works
Aaro Simonson, a chainsaw sculptor, is back in Chetwynd creating the Community Forest sign and other works seen in the E D C building and hospital foyer. He reflects on his artistic path from ranch life to Japan teaching log homes and his shift to full time sculpture after returning to the Shuswap area with wife Peggy and son Chance. The Community Forest area northwest of Chetwynd spans about 2500 hectares and aims to educate the public about forestry. The family plans to return home mid September with several pieces in progress.
