Day of Atonement Yom Kippur Observances Begin This Year
Yom Kippur the holiest day in the Jewish calendar begins Tuesday evening September 20 and ends Wednesday evening September 21. Jews worldwide engage in meditation and a 25 hour fast of food and water while focusing on prayer repentance and charity in the liturgy. The day marks the sealing of the Book of Providence for the year and emphasizes returning to one’s source through Teshuvah and righteous giving Tzedakah as Lubavitch prays for a sweet year for all.
