Chetwynd Police History and Present Detachments
The RCMP began in Chetwynd in 1958 with Corporal Verne Williams and Constable McLeod. Now a nine-man detachment led by Sergeant Ray Cunningham serves the area. Constable Bob Allen joined in 1974 and heads a two-man Highway Patrol unit since 1980 after Williams Lake service. Bob Nordlund joined in 1975, moved to Chetwynd in 1978, and is active in the Scout Troop and Lions Club with his family.
