Trustees announce further cutbacks in 1982 district budget
The school board unveiled an interim plan to cut 385 655 from the 1982 District 59 budget, urging action before September 15. Opening of Chamber of Commerce Building in 1982

Weekend break ins target Legion and Lions Den
Police report says over the weekend two break ins occurred on Friday August 27 at Chetwynd Legion Branch 258 and Saturday August 28 at Lions Den, with liquor taken from both sites. Two impaired drivers were arrested and a private home on Jackfish Lake Road was broken into.

Second Degree Murder Charge in Cabin Fire Death
At about 3:00 a.m. on Friday August 27 a cabin 33 miles west of Chetwynd on Highway 97 owned by David Nelson burned. Thomas Leon Dobrowolski 33 died on arrival at Chetwynd hospital. Michael Foley 19 of no fixed address was arrested nearby and charged with second degree murder. Foley is held in Prince George Correctional Centre. RCMP and Coroner Parker continue investigations.
