BC Gas to acquire Centra Gas for 208 million

BC Gas Inc. agrees to buy the common shares of Centra Gas British Columbia Inc. and Centra Gas Whistler Inc. from Westcoast Energy Inc. for 208 million dollars. The deal expands BC Gas core business to residential customers and gas fired electricity plants on Vancouver Island, while Westcoast plans to redeploy funds to high growth pipeline projects. Centra Gas serves 70,000 homes and seven pulp mills on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast, and the acquisition would give BC Gas control of these assets.

Chetwynd library hosts first open house event

The Chetwynd Library held an open house on Saturday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm with about 45 visitors. Featured tables displayed Balance Fashions Osborne Books and Mary Kay Cosmetics along with Brazilian Embroidery and quilting. A door prize basket worth nearly 100 dollars was won by Shawn Dutchak.
