Willow Creek coal mine unlikely to reopen soon
Walter Energy has kept the Willow Creek operation closed near Chetwynd as production costs of about 150 per tonne exceed current market prices, with regional mines profitable at 120 to 130 per tonne. Industry signals point to a potential rebound to 180 200 by 2015, but no reopening date is set.
