The Harlem Clowns visit the local gym Friday October 27 at 8 30 p m in Chetwynd Elementary Secondary School Gym. The show combines dazzling ball handling trick shooting and comedy to deliver an entertaining basketball performance for local fans.
The Village of Chetwynd recap notes grants totaling 23 434 dollars and Local Initiatives Program funds of 28 484 dollars for parks grounds and boulevards. Projects include pits playground equipment fences and a new Windrem Creek park as well as a major arena addition managed with PRLRD and CPEA reps. Community hall remained profitable and served numerous groups.
At the October 17 1972 village council meeting Alderman Planner opened the session with Mayor Oberle arriving soon after. Library Board presented architectural drawings for a proposed library addition for approval. Ambulance Society secretary Mrs B MacKay requested operating funds and the council approved a 500 grant. Arena commission reported Victoria amended letters patent allowing completion with artificial ice bleachers and dressing rooms though installation may be delayed.
Dr John Lennox praised the Moccasin Flats project by Patrick Watson shown October 22 1972 to the Chetwynd Non-Status Indians. The 27 minute film on the Chetwynd Metis Housing project follows old homes and new dwellings, with Shannon Twofeathers lyrics and a wedding scene that moves viewers. Gene Reaume hopes for national TV release within two months.
Hudson's Hope defeated Chetwynd 117 to 102 to claim the challenge trophy on Friday October 13. Grade 8 girls and A and B teams posted wins while Grade 8 boys and A boys saw Chetwynd triumphs. a follow up match on October 20 at Chetwynd featured Frank Ross. Harvest dance notes from Dawson Creek conclude the item.
Residents from Prince George Dawson Creek and Edmonton joined Thanksgiving gatherings in Chetwynd. Families celebrated milestone anniversaries in Princeton and Davidson while Shriners gathered at Inn of the North in Prince George. Election ballots were cast October 30 with local sports results noted for Chetwynd teams.
About 100 people attended the All Candidates Forum sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce at Hotel Chetwynd on Sunday evening. Each candidate spoke fifteen minutes outlining party policies and riding plans, with a pre-arranged speaking order by draw. A lengthy Q and A session followed until 10:30 p.m., as candidates and audience discussed views over Chamber coffee.
Pathfinders of the Seventh day Adventist Church will go house to house on October 31 collecting canned foods for the needy at Christmas. Members 10 to 15 years old wear the official orange or yellow neckerchief or Pathfinder badge for identification. The club promotes Christian citizenship and fun, seeking donations from North American communities each Halloween.
