A meeting to explore forming a senior men’s hockey team in Chetwynd is set for Thursday at 7 30 in the Blueline mobile home office. Jim Armstrong leads the effort and reports Blue Line donated 500 for uniforms while a former NHL goalie may be recruited.
The Pacific Great Eastern Railroad will relocate 12 new families to Chetwynd before October ends. Vancouver officials told THE ECHO a full train crew and maintenance staff will be stationed there due to crew repositioning from the Fort Nelson extension. Chetwynd crews will haul freight north to Beatton River and back each day with overnights. A possible expansion of Chetwynd staff may follow coal mining in the Sukunka Valley.

Danni Harris received 25 for unlawful liquor possession after claiming he found the bottle in an old toilet behind the hotel. Another juvenile also paid 25 in the incident. Robert Law was fined 100 last week for possession of a prohibited weapon after police found a loaded unregistered firearm in his home. Harold Sochan faced a slow driving charge and had his licence points increased. police also cited him for driving on the wrong side at seven mph on a highway with no slow signs. Police recovered 800 dollars worth of stolen goods from an October 10 burglary in Ghetwynd. Charges are pending. Arthur Doonan of Fort St John collided with a brown bear 20 miles east of Chetwynd.

Chetwynd Cubs and Scouts organize a bottle drive this Saturday October 23 asking residents to have bottles ready for pickup.
Stampede Wrestling a popular TV attraction arrives in Chetwynd to stage a show on Thursday October 21. The Canadian Heavyweight wrestling belt will be on the line in the featured match with local and visiting wrestlers set to compete.
Calgary promoter Stu Hart anchors a full Stampede Wrestling card in Chetwynd with eight thirty p.m. first bell while Gil Hayes meets the winner of Ruhl versus Tomaso. Ed Sullivan Ray Steele Victor Jo Veca Dick Medrano and John Anson also appear. Tickets at the door.
