Province urged to vaccinate youth against HPV early and free
A northern medical group calls on the provincial government to vaccinate students against HPV in grades 6 and 9 and to provide the vaccine free of charge for ages nine to 26. Dr. Don Davis notes vaccination before sexual activity maximizes protection and stresses ongoing cancer screening and public education alongside a school based program planned for 2008/09. Gardasil, Health Canada approved, requires three injections and protects against HPV strains linked to most cervical cancers and genital warts. The plan aims to align with other immunizations and remains voluntary with uncertain funding and grade targeting.

NH Connections bus service eyed for Edmonton link
Peace River Regional Hospital District directors pressed Northern Health to explore adding Edmonton to the NH Connections patient transport network. NH officials noted very few northeast requests for Edmonton travel, but said they would monitor demand and coordinate with government if a shift is warranted. The service has recently expanded routes to Fort St. John and Prince Rupert and to Vancouver, with ridership reported to have risen after changes.
