The Honourable Frank Oberle M P visited Chetwynd last Friday meeting Grade 11 and 12 students. He discussed socialism and capitalism and urged personal freedom while warning about dangers to peace if the constitution or economy falters. He urged MPs to serve the people and noted referendums may require personal decisions.

Site C hearings to proceed in B C despite delays
Environmental groups failed to halt the B C Utilities Commission pre hearing for the Site C dam on the Peace River. Chairman Keith Henry ruled the hearing would start Nov 3 as planned, though costs for presenting information would be awarded after the hearing.

Chetwynd Blitz raises funds during September drive
In Chetwynd during the week of September 21 26 residents organized an Arthritis month Blitz led by chairperson Mrs A Teslyk and co chair Mrs A Sandness. Twenty four ladies canvassed the village and the target of 1500 was surpassed with a total of 1774 22 collected. The effort earned thanks and congratulations to the community for its generosity.
