Cashore Trashes Referendum on Treaty Negotiations
Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Cashore criticizes Reform Party calls for a referendum on land claim talks with Blueberry River and Doig River Nations. He defends a six step negotiation process aimed at public input, local government advisory committees, and a later ratification vote, while dismissing Weisgerber’s referendum push as divisive.
