Dawson Creek named to launch northeastern BC community college
Dr. Brian Brown is named chairman of the advisory committee to establish a northeastern British Columbia community college. The plan uses Dawson Creek Vocational School facilities with satellites across the region, while reviewing a Downey Report proposal for a federated cross province system. Education Minister Eileen Dailly says the government favors local college development over a costly interprovincial facility, and notes ongoing talks with Alberta on post secondary needs in the Peace River region. Ninth unit goes on stream at Peace River dam

The council met September 24 with Acting Mayor Ernie Pfanner chairing. They approved a 2500 library grant from the initial 4000 1974 grant and discussed future curling rink plans. Water service concerns were raised and government programs funded two students staffing the booth. Administrative staff from Municipal Affairs planned an afternoon at the village office. Chetwynd Hosts Barbeque With Hydro Power Update
Chetwynd hosts a barbecue where executives of Canadian Forest Products discuss energy plans. Hydro reports added capacity of 275,000 kilowatts at the Peace project, bringing total generating capacity to over 4.6 million kilowatts and supplying 50 to 60 percent of utility customers. Site One development work proceeds as a tenth unit is planned for Peace.
