The Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce Tourist Information Center opened on June 1 with counselors Karen Rix and Sue Teslyk. New counselors Cathy Dodge Cherie Pulver Roxanne Kinkead Rick Roberts and Connie Kolthof joined later. Four counselors completed the BC Tourism Counsellors Course in Fort St John in June and found it useful. June brought 816 visitors as pleasant weather drew travelers.
The tourism ministry announced that four color magazine ads for the 1982 summer and fall campaigns earned design excellence recognition from Communication Arts. McKim Advertising produced three ads placed in major magazines in Canada and the U.S., reaching about eight million readers.
