Tenders for water treatment plant too high by Rick Davison
The District of Chetwynd rejected all seven bids for the water treatment plant as bids far exceeded the 2,016,000 budget. Lowest bid was North American Construction Ltd at 3,645,569 and highest Prokam Construction Ltd at 4,365,681. Engineering cited high concrete costs and design choices as drivers, with masonry construction and a Cadillac design raising costs. The district will reexamine contracts, site works, and structure with the consulting firm.
