Chetwynd 4-H Club Awards Honor members at annual night
19 club members from Chetwynd 4-H Beef and Horse clubs received achievement ribbons and proficiency certificates at Awards Night. Leaders Nick Negu Marion McDonough and Karen Poole were honored, with special thanks to volunteers for music and support. Gifts and recognitions followed, including pins for all members and special acknowledgments for Randy and Sig Paul.

Hal Smith, Cantor Ltd manager, says the $2 million sawmill destroyed by fire on Nov 17, 1972 will not halt wood operations. 110 workers are out. salvage and cleanup will employ many. Dry kilns and planer undamaged. logs stockpiled. Canfor plans a new mill. weather will influence restart. Mayor Oberle was shocked by the loss.

At the November 9 meeting Mayor and Aldermen heard delegations. F Baggs Arena Commission urged a street light by the ball diamond. Mrs Rix on behalf of the Library urged larger facilities, with PRRD funds rejected. A boundary group asked for water service and must gather petitions from at least 75 percent of property owners. Cigas asked for a reduced trade license.

Celebrate area pioneer's birthday in Little Prairie open house
November 21 marked Mrs. Florence Nicholson’s eightieth birthday with friends at her home. The Nicholsons moved to Little Prairie in 1932, built a log house near the B C Railway Station, ran a general store and post office, and their home became a social hub. Their son Elis was the first white child born there. They later sold the business in 1948, moved to Twidwell Bend, and Mrs. Nicholson remains active.

An all-terrain vehicle is defined as any motor powered vehicle capable of traveling on or off highways. Operators must hold a valid driver’s licence to travel on highway rights of way, with registration and insurance when permitted. Skidoos do not meet Act requirements and are banned on highways. Vehicle operators must identify themselves on property request and present registration.
