Ricky's Pancake and Chicken House opens in Chetwynd joining eight other Ricky's franchises in the lower mainland. The new 100 seat facility next to the Country Squire Inn replaces Yips and will be fully licensed. Manager Jane Hager leads a menu of pancakes waffles omelettes fish and chips. The opening coincides with local development updates and heritage restoration plans in Chetwynd.

Grant brothers honoured at Legion banquet after 33 years logging

About 150 people gathered at the Legion last Saturday to honour Grant brothers George James and Stewart on their 33 year logging careers. The event noted their Canfor Industries Canfor Chetwynd Division roots, road building, and the transition from horse logging to modern logging. Family members and business associates spoke, with Connie Patterson recounting the era from Allan Grant’s 1937 move to Dawson Creek through the family’s work in Coldbrook Murray River Lone Prairie and Pine Pass regions. The brothers plan to keep ranching and road building with James continuing Canfor road work. The Grant family thanked Canfor Dawson Creek Chetwynd business community and longtime workers.

Regional District opposes Site C dam near Fort St John

Peace River Liard Regional District releases a policy statement criticizing B C Hydro and urging no further Peace River damming unless better power alternatives exist.
