Social Credit meeting outlines broad reforms in Chetwynd
Over 200 people heard M.L.A. Don Phillips and Dr. John Woronuk outline Social Credit policies in Chetwynd on November 17. They advocated housing grants, land assembly, seniors’ care, tax relief for seniors, school autonomy, low interest loans for small business, and free auto insurance for some seniors. A storefront office will open November 24 at the Chetwynd Court Motel to discuss policies.

Alternate education program in Chetwynd becomes reality
The Chetwynd Attendance Centre CACRS launches an alternate education program for youths withdrawn from regular schooling. Funds from DHR Education and AG probation support salaries and facility rental. Staff includes teacher Mrs Lillian Hegland and child care workers Jack Yates and Peter Courtorielle. Maximum 15 students with referrals from DHR Education and CACRS. Open house planned early next year after December 8 1975 opening.

Council wrestles with highway decision and grants
The council questioned a Department of Highways ruling on left turn storage at the High way 29 and Hart High way intersection after an incident history review. A July 1976 re study was requested. The Recreation Commission received 450 dollars for the Hudson Hope swimming pool. Grants from the Provincial Government were frozen and their status remains undecided. Venturers Hoffman and Shirley visited with an autographed volume from Aalborg and Little Giant Pins.

Business seminar in Chetwynd December 3 1975
A business management seminar for small enterprise owners will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Chetwynd B C on December 3 1975. Arranged by the Advisory Services Department of the Federal Business Development Bank in cooperation with the Chetwynd District Chamber of Commerce the seminar will cover financial statements and expansion effects. About 20 to 25 attendees are expected. The FBDB helps finance small businesses with loans often under 25000. Register by filling in the form in this issue.

Poles Off Limit Warns Against Posting Posters
The B C Telephone Company and B C Hydro urge all political parties to avoid attaching posters to telephone and power poles during the provincial election campaign. Posters on poles pose a hazard to linemen who have been seriously injured by nails staples and card spikes. Safety directors note workers compensation concerns.

History of Chetwynd compiled for Library records
Mrs Bea Kurjata presented two editions of the History of Chetwynd to Library Board President Rheta Rix. The project, begun last winter under L I P, recorded area history and contributed photos. Funding ended in May and a new L I P application was not approved, leaving much material unrecorded. The history remains at the Library for public reading.
