Funding blockades hit women centres tour in Clark visit
Chetwynd hosts a tour of the Marketplace project tied to a Canadian women’s centre. The $800000 venture includes a gift shop, conference room, mini golf and kitchen aimed at teaching self sufficiency. Critics say Status of Women funding shifts threaten ongoing support and community projects.

Planned recreation centre upgrade may start this year
Civic Properties Commission hopes to begin the project this year pending approvals. Upgrades would join two buildings, add a kids area, a waterslide, expand the fitness room to 4000 square feet, add a racquetball court and climbing wall, expand food service, add dressing rooms, install sprinklers, and fund via taxes with 20 year borrowings and about 668000 annual payments. Tim Caton notes 26 percent from Chetwynd district and 74 percent from Electoral Area E, largely from industry. A working committee will review drawings once received.
