Chetwynd Echo reports the Electric Eels, with 15 swimmers led by Tyler Richter and Kyle Eckel, scored 174 points at the Prince George meet an improvement from 72 last year. Coach Jason Brockman sees strong potential after two meets, aiming for success at the Long Course meet in Prince George.
The Chetwynd Secondary School senior girls volleyball team won the A zone in Valemont, earning a provincial championship bid in Castlegar from November 27 to 29. They went undefeated in round robin, swept the semi final, beat Cedars Christian 3-1 after losing the first game of the final, with set scores 25-12 25-14 25-16, and claimed multiple individual awards including MVP Rianne Swanson and first and second team honors for Ashley Swanson, Talysa Tupper, and Jennifer Rosen.
The Boys 10 & Under saw Tyler Richter place in multiple events with top finishes from 3rd to 8th across back, breast, freestyle and fly. Kyle Eckel posted several finals in butterfly and freestyle events. In Girls 10 & Under, Kelsey Hallaert and Logan Richter earned multiple placements including breaststroke and backstroke events. The Girls 11-12 group highlighted Kellee Lekavy with second and third places in breaststroke and freestyle events, with Carlee Westgate also appearing in several finals. In the 15 & Over division, Carly Widdicombe dominated breaststroke and freestyle events, while Charla Nelson earned multiple seconds in back and breast. Relay results show strong performances with two second-place medals in the 200 Medley for Girls 10 & Under and 11-12, plus fifth and sixth places in various 200m free and medley relays.
