In-line skaters neglect protective gear study finds
Ottawa and UNC researchers observed 877 skaters in British Columbia across July and August 1999. Only 36 percent wore any protective gear, with helmets 13 percent and wrist guards 25 percent. fewer than 3 percent wore all four types. Observations varied by location, highest on recreational pathways and lowest in neighbourhoods, prompting calls to increase gear use.
